The Micro-Drama Boom: inoRain CTO Takes the Content Everywhere Stage at IBC 2026

Armen Hakobyan, CTO and Co-Founder of inoRain, spoke at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam with a session titled “The Micro-Drama Boom: How AI Is Building the Next Streaming Empire.” The session took place on Monday, 14 September 2026, 11:15–11:35, on Stage 2 of the Content Everywhere area in Hall 5, and included a live demo of a micro-drama service.

Why micro-drama, and why now

Micro-dramas are short, vertical, episodic series built for the phone. Episodes run a minute or two, end on a cliffhanger and are designed for viewing on the go. The format has grown from a niche into a multi-billion-dollar category in only a few years, led by mobile-first audiences who watch in short sessions throughout the day.

For platforms, the format changes the economics of video:

-Faster consumption. Short episodes mean more completed episodes per session. -Stronger habit loops. Viewers return to the app more often, which supports daily retention. -Flexible monetisation. Micro-drama apps typically mix advertising, subscriptions, episode unlocks (micro-transactions), reward-based access and brand integrations.

Where AI comes in

The session looked at how AI is accelerating every stage of a micro-drama business, from content production and processing to smart feeds that decide which episode each viewer sees next. Recommendation and personalisation are central to the format: when every episode is short, the next swipe has to be the right one.

The live demo
