What Changed at Vimeo in 2025 - 2026

Here’s what changed:

  • Vimeo On Demand is shutting down

    New uploads stopped on 22 August 2026 and new purchases and subscriptions stopped on 21 September 2026. On 20 November 2026 the platform closes completely, and viewers lose access to titles they bought or rented.

  • Vimeo is steering On Demand sellers to Vimeo OTT

    now marketed as Vimeo Streaming. That means moving from a revenue share to Vimeo OTT’s own fee structure: $1 per subscriber per month plus merchant fees for subscriptions, and 10% + 50¢ per transaction for rentals and purchases.

  • Apps and live streaming are Enterprise-only

    Vimeo OTT’s Starter plan is web-only and supports pre-recorded video only. Branded TV and mobile apps, live events, AVOD and DRM all sit in the Enterprise plan, which is priced on request.

  • New ownership

    Vimeo is now owned by Bending Spoons, and reported layoffs followed the acquisition. That has left many customers unsure where the product is heading.
