Technology Magazine: inoRain CEO on the ISP Advantage in Next-Gen Streaming

Technology Magazine has published an article in which inoRain CEO and Founder Andranik Minasyan shares his view on the ISP-led OTT delivery model. In “The ISP Advantage in Next-Gen Streaming,” he explains how internet service providers are redefining their role in streaming and confronting the infrastructure constraints that come with it.

The ISP opportunity

ISPs sit in a unique position in the streaming value chain. They own the network that video travels over, the billing relationship with the household and, often, the set-top box or TV app on the screen. As streaming becomes the main way people watch TV, ISPs are moving from pure connectivity providers to curators of the viewing experience: bundling streaming services, aggregating OTT apps and adding services such as smart-home offers.

The business case is clear. Bundled digital services lower churn and raise revenue per user, because customers stay longer when more value is tied to their subscription.

The infrastructure challenge

The same shift puts pressure on networks. Video already accounts for most internet traffic, and live events create sharp peaks. ISP-led OTT means delivering high-quality streams efficiently, close to the viewer, without letting delivery costs erode the margin the new services were meant to create.

How inoRain helps ISPs

inoRain works with ISPs and TV providers to launch branded OTT and IPTV services: white-label apps across devices, content aggregation, flexible monetisation and efficient delivery with hybrid CDN + P2P technology. The approach lets ISPs keep control of the customer relationship while adding new revenue lines on top of connectivity.
